    Thanks for clarifying.

At the top of this page, it says:
“For Dolphin Browser for Pad, you will find all the brilliant features in Dolphin Browser HD including:
    Gesture
    Add-ons
    …”

Can you estimate when addons will be available, as I’m really looking forward to this app, but can’t use it until I can use the LastPass addon.

    • Hey Ben.
Add-ons will be available. But it might take a while to come.
We’ll keep you updated if Dolphin for Pad supports Add-ons.

  2. Ben permalink

Is there something wrong with addons? I’d love to switch to Dolphin for pad, but I can’t use it without the Lastpass addon. The Lastpass site says it supports Dolphin for pad, but it won’t show up in the addons page.

    Thanks

Hello! I am impressed with your product and am ecstatic that the tabs stay atop the page. However, what happened to the home page? I do not like having a home button.

  4. Rose permalink

Hello, I’m very impressed with your tablet browser! I am very glad the tabs stay on top all of the time. My main concern is what happened to the homepage button? I miss my homepage of speedials. There isn’t even a home button.

    Thanks

Ok, guys… There is no doubt that dolphin HD is amazing and you have a loyal customer with me, I recommend HD to everyone I know. However there are definitely some optimization issues with HD, and a product like dolphin for pad is attractive, but HD is just better. I would love to switch for good, but can’t for all of the numerous reasons listed on this forum. C’mon, guys… no update since July??? Really??? Show us the love you show all of our phone browser counterparts.

Wow me with the consistency you have proven to have with HD!

    • Thanks for the Dolphin love, Joseph.
Dolphin for Pad is still under developing.
We will update it later. Stay tuned!

  6. PpK permalink

It’s been like 4 months, any news on update? Or Dolphin HD is now good for Honeycomb too? I am using Galaxy Tab 10.1

  7. Kim Stephens permalink

Looks good on Toshiba Thrive, but is useless without ability to import bookmarks. I’m not going to manually visit several hundred sites just to be able to use the pad version.

  8. Phil permalink

Is Dolphin for Pad still in development? There hasn’t been an update since July. That seems excessive. This is looking a lot like an abandoned project.

  9. ryan permalink

aside from the gestures, is there any way to simply have a back and forward button on the top of the browser as it displays on my sony tablet s? Sorry for the noob question but this is my first use of an adroid device and dolphin in this context…thanks…

    Hi

Do we have to downlod dolphinpad only from google market? Is there a link to download app from your website? Or will you upload it to for example slideme.org? (in slideme.org there is only dolphin hd app)

    Very thanks.

    • Thanks for your comments.
Currently, Dolphin for Android Pad is only available on the Android Market.
If we put it to any third party market, we will let you know.

How do you type a url in address bar in full screen mode

    • Thanks for supporting us.
Full screen will hide the address bar. So if you want to type a url in the address bar, please go back to the normal mode.

  12. Myron permalink

Is development still continuing on this browser for pad? Or just for the HD version? There havent been any updates for a long time, and updates continue to be released for the hd version of the browser.

    • Thanks for supporting us.
Our developers are still working hard on developing the Android pad version. Stay tuned.

Add ons dont work with this Version…

  14. I love the tablet version of the browser and use it as my primary browser on my EEE-Pad. I am curious about the status of an update :) I would love to help test if there is a need!

    Thank you,
    Chris

  15. Is it, or isn’t possible to use gesture on Asus eee Transformer with 3.2? I can’t figureit out

    • Yes, it is.
Click the triangle like button on the right side of the address bar, then you can draw gesture under the address bar.

  16. Bill permalink

Same as the others, would like to be able to gesture without leaving full screen mode, love the full screen button though.

Also, is there a way for when I swipe right for bookmarks that my bookmarks show up everytime instead of top menu of bookmarks or other bookmarks? Its just extra tapping.

    • Thank you for your suggestions.
I will pass them along to our relevant team member.

      • At some point – it would me good if desktop viewing worked on all sites… ESPN and nytimes for example always switch to mobile. Frustrating. Acer Iconia a500

I have been using the Dolphin for Android Pad beta for a few weeks and I like it. However, I have a few comments:

    1. Keep the Gesture activation button at the bottom like the current HD version. It is more neutral to active the gesture function from the bottom.

    2. It is bad that gesture function is not available in full size mode.

    3. Too many steps to delete/edit a bookmark. Suggest to keep it simple with a long press on the bookmark.

    Thanks.

    • Thanks for your suggestions.
I will transfer them all to our relevant team member.
And we will continue working hard to make Dolphin better.

  18. Even permalink

I love the pad version so far. It is, even in beta, the best browser for the Transformer, in my opinion.

    Three things:
    1) Do you consider adding Delicious bookmarks integration? (And what happened to the old add-on? I can’t find it anymore.)
    2) Pressing the triangle button to do a gesture is okay (I think I prefer the bottom corner, but it’s still good). But as far as I can tell it’s not possible to do a gesture in fullscreen mode without disabling fullscreen first and then pressing the triangle. This is so time-consuming that I find myself not using gestures at all when in fullscreen, so I think I prefer the Dolphin HD way of doing this.
    3) Would it be possible to add an autohide address/navigation bar option like the default Dolphin HD behaviour – or merge this with the fullscreen option? Even with the bigger screen, I like using fullscreen while keeping the easy access (though the settings option) to the address/navigation bar.

    • Thanks for your suggestions.
Since this is the first beta version of Dolphin for pad, we will try to make it better in the future.

Hello, very good browser.Work great on asus transformer android 3.2.Please add a function to import bookmarks into html file.
Sory for my bad english and good day.

  20. boarder2 permalink

It seems pointless to have gestures when you just have to press a button to activate gesture mode. You may as well just do what you set out to do in the first place.

  21. Jeff permalink

I’m having the same issue with add-ons not showing. I am using a asus eeepad transformer and the menu button does nothing while on the add-on page.

  22. Jay permalink

Overall I really like this version of Dolphin, but I call it The Devourer of Battery. It seems to constantly run, even after exiting and force-stopping via the applications menu.

    Moto Xoom, Android 3.2

    • Thanks for your feedback.
This is just a first beta of the pad version.
We will try to make it better in later versions.

      • Jay permalink

It seems to be much better after restarting a day ago. It’s back to the battery usage that I’ve been used to with Dolphin HD.

  23. steven permalink

How do you access the add-ons? I have desktop toggle installed and can see it listed in settings, but can’t figure out how to acess thenad-ons toolbar.

    • You mean you didn’t see it in toolbar?
If so, please click it in Add-on Page, then click Menu-> Settings, choose to Display in add-on bar.

Just got my Thrive. On the basis of comments, I went with Dolphin from the start. No experience on other browsers.
How can I get Bookmarks to come up first, instead of History?

There’s a few things I like better than the HD version but a rather annoying issue is when the user agent is set to desktop, Dolphin uses the google mobile page for search.

    • What’s your device model and android system? Android 3.1?
Would you please try to refresh the page again after changing user agent to desktop?

      • Rand permalink

        Xoom (wifi), Android 3.2.

I don’t think a page refresh is the issue (although I’ve tried). When searching via the address bar, Dolphin seems to use the google mobile (e.g. http://www.google.com/m?q=test) . If I manually go to google.com, I have no issues (google is not attempting to direct me to the mobile site).

      • Willem permalink

How can I change the Dolphin own search engine to desktop instead of mobile? (Asus TF 3.1)

        • Click Menu-> More-> Settings-> Dolphin settings-> User agent-> Desktop.
Or you can download Desktop Toggles to switch between Desktop & Mobile view easily.

  28. Mark permalink

Do any of the Dolphin HD add-ons work on this? So far I’ve tried Speed Dial and AdBlocker with no luck.

    • Can you tell me your device model and android system?
Btw, Ad Blocker has been pulled off from Android Market already.

  29. GreenI permalink

Works well on my NI Adam (running adamcomb 0.3), except that the Bookmarks to Sd cardill not allow the restore of bookmarks previously saaved in Dolphin HD.

    • Currently, Dolphin does not support importing bookmarks in Dolphin HD.

      • Brian permalink

This along with the lack of back up make this version no better than previous versions. Uninstalled.

        • Since this is just the first beta of Pad version, it is not as good as other versions.
But we will try to make it better.

  30. Flo permalink

    Hi guys!
Great app, good feeling about it so far! Thanks!

How could i synchronize bookmarks from HD to Pad version INCLUDING FOLDERS? It took me a long time to sort it well, i don’t want to do it again…

    • Sorry, Dolphin for Pad does not support syncing bookmarks with Dolphin HD currently.

      • shaun permalink

        Deal breaker…

On the go bookmarks are everything, everything I need is in HD … I’D love to switch to Pad … but without import ability it’s dead to me

        • I will transfer it to our relevant team member.
They will consider carefully whether this feature should be added or not.

          • sylas11 permalink

I have managed lack of direct import of the bookmarks by using the xmark app/plugin (thx Dolphin support for suggestion), but then I’ve realized that Dolphin for Pad does not accept bookmarks organized in subfolders…It is a huge limitation. Dolphin HD already recognize subfolders since version 5, please consider to add this feature to the Pad version.

          • Thanks for reporting it to us.
We will consider the feature if necessary.

You’re the best Dolphin. It’s almost 2 years since I started using your products.
I have Galaxy Tab 7.0, why not make this available for other tablets with Froyo or Gingerbread?
    Thanks,

  32. Why not for Gingerbread Tabs like my Galaxy Tab? Very said.

  33. tim permalink

Also another thing that would be nice is to have more keyboard shortcuts, more and more tablets works with keyboards like the transformer,
so things like ctrl+w to close a tab, ctrl+t to make new tab,
a way to switch from one tab to another with the keyboard and so on would be great.

Currently there’s mostly the switch to next / previous tab that you can set to the volume buttons, unfortunately volume up is on the right side of the volume down on the keyboard,
but vol up is switching to the left tab and vol down is switching to the right tab, so it’s reversed.

    • Thanks for your suggestions, Tim.
I will transfer them all to our relevant team member. They will consider them if they think necessary.

  34. tim permalink

Used it for a few hours,
Works great on asus transformer, much faster and responsive than Dolphin HD.
And interface is great too, good to have back and forward buttons now too.

One thing it’s currently missing imho is that while you can zoom in with multitouch, you cannot zoom out further.
I know you can force the default view in the setting to ‘far’ but it’s not what I need.

Basically what would be good is to have the page fit by default like currently, but be able to zoom out as needed with multitouch points the same way that you can currently zoom in. :)

The ability to switch from one tab to another by flipping with 2 fingers on the right or left side is nice, but the cube rotation, while impressive, takes too much time, might be nice to change that or make it configurable to no transition or something fast like a fast slide or something for more efficiency.

  35. joe permalink

great app. but a vital function is missing:

“open a url link in a new tab by default”

    why???

  36. Mike permalink

I think it works great, I just would like to be able to import my bookmarks from Dolphin HD.

  37. sylas11 permalink

    Great app, but:
    - after installation, it is named “Dolphin Browser HD” in the application list. Even in configuration dialogs it says it is “Dolphin Browser HD” (not “Dolphin Browser for Pad”as it should be). It is confusing a little bit, especially when user has also ‘real’ Dolphin HD installed, as I do, for the reason given below,
    - plugin “Bookmarks to SD” does not work. If I have Dolphin for Pad installed alone, plugin says that it needs Dolphin HD. When I additionaly install Dolphin HD, plugin imports bokmarks to Dolphin HD, even if called from the Dolphin for Pad… So, I am not able to import bookmarks to Dolphin for Pad from the html file, exported previously from Dolphin HD. This is the main reason that I have Dolphin HD installed together with Dolphin for Pad – I cannot use my bookmarks in the Pad version. If I could import bookmarks, I would switch immediately to the Pad version :)

    • Thanks for your feedback.
Can you tell me your device model and firmware version? Android 3.0?

      • sylas11 permalink

I am using Acer Iconia Tab A500, Android version 3.0.1 (still waiting for the 3.1 update). And, after a whole day of using Dolphin for Pad, I can confirm that this is the best browser for tablets so far, except lack of importing the bookmarks (plugin does not work), and messing with the app name (I have two Dolphins HD on the apps list, instead of one HD and one Pad).

        • You mean the shortcuts of HD version and pad version are in the same name on your tablet?
If it is possible, can you send a screen shot to our support inbox: support@dolphin-browser.com?
And do you want to import bookmarks from Dolphin HD?

          • sylas11 permalink

I answer yes for the both questions :)
According the wrong app name in shortcuts and program settings, maybe it is connected with wrong translations. I am using Polish language, but I can not find the option to change it to English to confirm.
I will send some screenshots later this day.

          • Thanks.
We would really appreciate it if you can send us some screen shots to take a look.

      • sylas11 permalink

Sorry, forgot to write the firmware version. Its Acer_A500_1.141.01_EMEA_GEN6, kernel version 2.6.36.3

Hmm…how do you use the gesture feature? There is no activation corner anymore. Gestures still present on version prior to this one. Do I need to remove prior version? Also my bookmarks from prior version weren’t imported. Odd…

    • You can draw gesture below the address bar by clicking the button at the right hand of address bar.
And Dolphin for Pad does not support importing bookmarks from Dolphin HD currently.

  39. Nice tablet-browser, does a great job on my Motorola Xoom.

One downside though: there is no option to import my Dolphin HD bookmarks so now i have to retype the extensive bookmark-list :-(

    Keep up the great work!

    Hi Guys,

Love the new Dolphin Browser for Pad. I downloaded it for my Asus Transformer a few hours ago and think it’s great.

One cool feature I’ve stumbled on is switching between tabs by some kind of gesture. It brings up a cube animation. Myself and my wife have done it a few times by accident but can’t figure out how.

    Ta!

    Joel

    • You mean you can’t figure out where gesture is?
If so, clicking the button on the right hand of address bar, then you can draw gesture below address bar.

  44. gtech permalink

no speed dial on new tab?

Bookmarks sync is limted or not working correctly.

It has synced with my google/chrome bookmarks but did not retain folders. It just put all the bookmarks under Bookmarks bar. Hope this is a known issue.

Other than that, a great browser!

  46. Mike Keeth permalink

Please change the default search to not be the mobile version, or even better – make the search engine a selectable option :D

  47. Justin permalink

It seems like a generally better browser for Honeycomb than the older versions. Still getting used to the UI. I am seeing some positioning issues in textboxes, where the cursor is doesn’t matchwhere the arrow is while trying to select text. (Including in this comment box) Also, can you import bookmarks from Dolphin HD into Dolphin for Pad?

  48. Deb permalink

There are many more tablets that are running 2.2 and 2.3 than 3.0; it’s a shame that you limit the app to 3.0

    • Thanks for your suggestion.
We will consider to apply it to android 2.2 & 2.3 if necessary.

    • Justin permalink

I agree with Deb, there are a bunch of tablets with version 2.x that are in desperate need of a tablet optimized browser.

      • Thanks.
If we have plan to support Android 2.0 tablets, we will let you know.

        • Ricky permalink

Please have this app optimized for 3.0 any beyond as this is supposed to be the app for the REAL Android tablets. 2.x “tablets” could well just use the HD version. Those 2.x tablets are just oversized smartphones.

  49. Will this work on the Nook Color running CM7? This will be good for 7in devices but not all of them are running HC.

    Thanks.

    • As the post said, currently, it’s only compatible with Android 3.0 devices.
But we will consider to support 7inches devices if necessary.

  50. Markus permalink

Works good on Acer Iconia A500, thanks!
But how to rename or delete Bookmarks Folder?

  51. Jaime permalink

Why only Honeycomb? There are a few non-honeycomb tablets that have a decent user base.

  52. Ben Gildenstein permalink

I love the browser, hate the name.. It would be nice if you could forgo the brand dilution and call it Dolphin HD (or whatever) and serve different APKs in the market. One location, one download, one brand.

    • Since our app is a browser, so we call it Dolphin Browser HD.
As for your request for different apks, can you explain it more clearly?

  53. ArrTooDeeToo permalink

    Works great!

But PLEASE add this feature that is so very useful in the stock Honeycomb browser.

    http://www.pocket-lint.com/images/dynamic/3e8bc6039970f127af099936ad0091a679a8d8a2.jpg

It’s the quick menu. It’s the best thing about the stock honeycomb browser. At the least, please add some navigation buttons to one of the side bars. This allows for better navigation in full screen mode.

    Thank you.

    • Thank you for your feedback.
I will transfer your request to our relevant team member. They will consider to add it if necessary.

      • arrtoodeetoo permalink

Something like this shouldn’t be a matter of ‘necessity’. It’s a user request that will enhance the browser’s usability. I’m certain that if you include a feature like this, people would be very please with it. Until it’s there, I for one will stick with the stock browser.

  54. Sorry, juste read the smallest line : Android 3.0 only.
    Ok, only elite-pad :)

  55. Not available for my Archos 101 IT (10 inch size)…
    Which pad are compatible ?
Elite-pad like Xoom or Galaxy Tab ?

How do you use gestures now? I do not have the little symbol in the corner of my screen that allows one to draw a gesture.
