About twenty days ago, we had publish a preview version of Dolphin Browser. Anyone remember that? We gain a lot of positive feedback from you. Here the official name of Dolphin Browser Preview is decided to be Dolphin Browser Mini and I am happy to announce that you can experience Dolphin Browser Mini Preview2 now. I guess, maybe you can get clear about Dolphin Browser’s products and distinguish them more easily now since they have different names and different interfaces.
However, there are still some people confused that what are the differences between Dolphin Browser, Dolphin Browser HD and Dolphin Browser Mini. I will explain for you.
- Dolphin Browser HD is most powerful one among this three, which is only compatible with Android 2.0+ device. You can customize your own browser since Dolphin Browser HD is the first Android Browser supports add-ons. And there are many other minor but useful features to help you get better user experience.
- Dolphin Browser Mini is aiming at providing a faster user experience for you, which is built on Android 1.6 engine. Dolphin Browser Mini will win all the other browsers with its High speed responsibility. You can treat it as the mini version of Dolphin Browser HD and the upgrade version of Dolphin Browser.

Where is Dolphin Bookmark
Hi, we have changed it to data backup: Menu-> Toolbox-> Data Backup.
One more thing. I turned off the swipe gesture that lets you show the toolbar or bookmarks automatically. It gets confused too easily. For example, when I’m going through google image results it doesn’t let me view the next image, because it keeps pulling out the toolbox.
I’m using HD on a Nexus S.

I would love to have a way to turn gestures on by default without having to use a little icon in the bottom corner. 2 finger gestures in 3 finger gestures would also be very helpful.

Only problem is that there is a lag when typing and when clicking on a link, it takes about half a second to register the input, on my Lg optimus one p500 running froyo, Please FIX that BUG.
And it would be nice id we could import bookmarks from opera mobile and mini.

Another few suggestions:
1. Double-tap on tab closes it. I think it’s odd. I often close my tabs occasionally because of this. X-button and the menu item are enough.
2. It’s better to see a page zoomed out when it opens. Then user can zoom in the part he is interested in. Opening the page zoomed in to the top left corner isn’t good, I’m sure.
3. As it has been already mentioned, text reflow on zoom doesn’t function. Inconvinent. I hope it isn’t conceived so, I hope it will be availiable in next release of mini.

Bugs:
1st launch of Google browser (don’t hardly ever use anymore) caused a popup to select which app to use with selection of my installed browsers. The same popup that is received when clicking a hyperlink if default browser hadn’t previosly been selected or if upgraded browser or if installed another browser.
When usining to read news launching from news reader headline after using mini to read article and then using back button on device Mini prompts with exit popup. Then if minimized is selected (seems logical choice if planning on reading more articles) and when next news reader headline is selected Mini opens a new tab
All in all Great for 1st version.

You guys should implement instance back and forward like the miren browser. And also, some of the intuitive things that miren has like the auto hiding button to enable/disable fullscreen and just needs a simpler management menu. This still a better browser when compared though.

Tunny, excellent browser. Is there a chance to implement folder/tags in bookmarks, I have around. 500 bookmarks in google bookmarks and it is really hard to browse those as there are no folders in bookmarks view in dolphin mini.

Android X phone.
I’ve been on a quest for the best aka quickest Browser to use on not only the phone but also the home CPU’s. Miren is definitely a front runner but I believe at this point that Dolphin Mini and HD run my X faster.
This has got to be one of the most fiercely competitive areas on the Net as to the ultimate replacement for the now out dated I.E. With the advent of swiping the biggest test comes down to that versus video speed. Network access rates (3G – 4G) will go the route of the Processor wars of the 90′s (Pentium 1 – 4) in a way of offering you the potentially fastest download rates but there are still too many variables in Region location and physical obstructions until that will be our saviour……maybe when they get to 7G!
But until then, it’s all about who’s code will take whatever’s bandwidth is available and translate that into the quickest Browser speed….while still offering all the bells and whistles to statisfy the broadest cross section of users.
The Android software is here to stay and at this point of the race, Dolphin is a clear neck and a half out in front! You got the code right….time for the time saver apps to extend that lead around the post…..cuse that field is getting bigger fast!
Nice browser! Two things prevent me from using it as my replacement browser: the ability to search from the address field using Google; the ability to turn off the exit confirmation dialog.
[Re: smorloc] 1) Dolphin mini is able to search from the address field using Google. 2) currently we don’t provide the option.
will dolphin develop plugins for transfering normal forum view into wap view for mobiles just like some chinese browser such as miren browser and UC browser do?

The menu design including the toolbox and the page management doesn’t seem so clean and simple. Its a little cluttered and all over the place. Would prefer a simpler design without all the ‘curves’. I know its not final but its just an opinion. Great browser overall.

Im loving the simple and compact look and feel of the mini. I did notice an increase of battery drain whilst using this browser my HTC desire HD. Drained like 6% battery in 30minutes. stopped using it and tried again later with 12% in 50minutes. Is it just me?
How about the stock browser?
6% in 30 Minutes Browsing (=10 possible usage)? Are you serious. Tell me a smartphone, that lasts longer than 4-5 hours while browsing… Believe me, if these stats are right you are a very (!!!) lucky User

You know, more features, more memory & CPU usage, less speed.
I understand that, as with a number of other Android applications, double tap has a special meaning to the app and is not a double-click.
What I want to know is, for web pages that need you to be able to double-click in order to use the page, is there an alternative gesture (such as long press or a triple tap or something else) that Dolphin treats *as if* you had double-clicked, so that web page actions that are tied to double-click can be accessed?

please add the ability to hide the tab bar! i liked the way you guys did it in the original dolphin where you just double tab and it pops up, but i can see that it might interfere with double tap to zoom if you guys implemented that. other than that it’s a great browser!

Your replies are often hard to understand, since most of the time it’s not clear which previous post you are replying to.
You may want to consider starting each reply with the name of the person who posted the question/comment you are replying to.
On a separate note: do any of your browsers support double-click? If so, what do I have to do to send a double-click to a web site? The web mail interface that I have to use requires double-clicking on a subject line to open a message for reading, and in Dolphin HD I can’t find a way to make it work.
One final question: are there any plans to integrate LastPass functionality into Dolphin Mini? With the large number of passwords needed these days, having a secure password manager is an absolute must.

1. double tap in mini & hd is for double pinch zoom while double tap in Dolphin Browser is for fullscreen.
2. lastpass is an add-on for Dolphin, currently mini don’t support add-on. sorry.
For the comments browsing issue in this blog, maybe you can try the desktop mode of this blog.

To set the homepage…bookmark the page you want as a homepage. Then long press it in the bookmarks view and then choose ‘set as home page’

Dolphin creators, I hope you read this, because wow. Listen, this new browser, the Mini, it’s amazing. No, you’re not paying attention. Thank. You. So. Much. Okay, there was another browser, called Miren. Was it better then Dolphin HD? Nope. But, it had this feature that I thought was the coolest in any web browser. The ability to let Flash continue playing in the background. Because of this, I used Dolphin HD to do everything besides play Flash, and I would constantly switch back and forth. It was a hassle but whatever. Okay anyway, so then I try Mini, and I thought to myself, “Well they didn’t put it on HD, so I doubt that feature of playing Flash in the background would be on this one,” but it is, and you know what else you guys did that is totally amazing? Even the Miren browser would stop Flash content if you switched tabs. But you guys let it go the whole time, which, is, amazing. So thank you. You may think, “Wow this guy is talking a lot for something like letting Flash run,” but when I’m away from home, I try to make my phone as much like my personal computer as I can, and because of Mini, it’s one step, a big step, forward. Now if only more apps would run in the background, : )

My dolphin mini browser now appears to be very slow compared to android stock browser. I like the browser but still very buggy and also would like to see the screen lock near the address bar or somewhere for quick access.
Please also improve the bookmarks so that the imported bookmarks from google also imports the labels.

Sadly, Auto-wrapping of text lines does not work when pinching with two Fingers. This was my main reason for choosing Dolphin Browser HD, where it works perfectly. If you implement this feature, i’d switch to Mini since it feels much faster.

I’m just blown away. The launching of the browser, clicking bookmarks links to open the browser, clicking urls in my twitter app all open almost instantly. Closing tabs, opening new ones, opening bookmarks, everything is really quick. The UI is really really responsive. This is by far the MOST responsive ANY browser is.
The features included are great already. Please don’t make it any heavier. It runs really quick now. Please please keep it that way for final version.
This is awesome. I had the original Dolphin on my G1. I currently am using Dolphin HD on my Galaxy S. But Dolphin Mini is miles better than the other two. More features than the original and very small, lightweight and quicker than Dolphin HD!
I love the way it renders pages properly like the default Android Browser (not like Opera or Fennec) and the way it launches really quickly while being feature-packed.

They are two separate and independent applications. If you had high-performance cellphone, I suggest you to use Dolphin Browser HD.
Works amazing on my evo running 2.2. I know dolphin hd is meant for higher versions of android and this one is for lower but i enjoy the speed over hd. This works great for higher versions of android just if you can make a double tap hide the tabs or a quick way to get to full screen like a side bar or something press of menu something. Bc the way to get to full screen now is kinda dragged out.

I love the Dolphin mini. I wish I could change the home page settings and the color…I have never liked green. Other than that it seems to work faster than the native browser. I like being able to import favorites from the native browser and I like the toolbar. I don’t particularly care for a new tab being open every time I select a different favorite…but I can live with that. If you’re browsing a number of different sites managing tabs becomes an issue. Good work…when will Dolphin Mini be out in a non-beta release?

Been using it for a couple of minutes and I really like the UI. But how in the world do I get my bookmarks from Dolphin Hd over to this one? Do I have to export first?
one way is sync your HD bookmarks to Google Bookmarks with Bookmarks to SD and sync them to MINI.
There seems to be a glitch where you can’t change the homepage. Once you try, the “ok” button fades out and can’t be clicked.

Just downloaded the Dolphin mini browser and like it very much. It doesn’t seem to want to let me set the default home page. I enter the URL but the “OK” button remains grayed out – is this a bug or expected to be fixed in later version?
